About David Rasmussen Design
David Rasmussen is one of only a handful of designers who also handcrafts his elegant and detailed work. Concentrating mostly on furniture and architectural built-ins, David practices his craft in Carbondale, Colorado.
Raised and educated in New England, David was exposed to the Northeast’s rich culture of fine furniture making from a young age. Trained by furniture masters Wayne Marcoux and Dan Mosheim, David learned about composition and construction techniques. Danish, Ming Dynasty, and contemporary American studio furniture where the focus of David’s studies in furniture as he progressed in his career.
Always “driven by artistic design and aesthetic value,” David’s avant-garde approach to developing his style included joining Vermont-based Forever Young Treehouses where he traveled as the lead carpenter on handicap-accessible projects so “anyone can climb a tree and take a walk in the woods” in Los Angeles, Chicago, Cincinnati and Pennsylvania. David returned to his roots in furniture after a few years of building treehouses, bringing with him the organic understanding that is required for building in the trees.
Currently, David is working with his highly trained craftsmen to produce elegant furinture for clients all over the US. David’s recent work focuses on what he thinks is relevant and thought provoking within the realm of modern culture.
David’s design is a response to modern aesthetics and resonates with iconic design.
